The Pharos Center for Consultations and Strategic Studies highlighted the pivotal role played by Egypt in addressing the direct and indirect repercussions of the escalating regional wars and tensions, stressing that Cairo represents the main pillar of stability and the structural safety valve in a region beset by complex crises from all strategic directions.
The report explained that Egypt adopts a foreign policy based on strategic balance and the independence of national decision-making, while working to protect its borders and national security without being drawn into international or regional axes of polarization.
The Center indicated that this approach has enabled Cairo to maintain open channels of communication with various active parties, making it an indispensable mediator in de-escalation and reconciliation initiatives.
“Pharos” added that Egypt’s intensive diplomatic moves concerning the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea, and the situations in Sudan and Libya complement national efforts to secure maritime corridors and navigation through the Suez Canal, which has been directly affected by the escalation on the ground.
The report confirmed that protecting navigation security and freedom of trade constitutes a top priority for the Egyptian state, in connection with its economic and national security.
The study highlighted the enormous economic and humanitarian burdens that Egypt bears as a result of crises in neighboring countries, foremost among them hosting millions of guests and refugees and increasing pressure on public services and the national currency, in addition to the loss of part of shipping and transit revenues.
Despite these challenges, the report highlighted Egypt’s continued delivery of relief and humanitarian aid to brotherly countries and its support for national state institutions to prevent their collapse.
