Quadrilateral message from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey and Pakistan to the Houthis: No to disrupting navigation and yes to the two-state solution

Egypt: Ahmed El-Sharqawy

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey and Pakistan condemned, in a joint statement, the continuation of attacks by the Houthi group against Saudi territory and ships, stressing the need to preserve maritime navigation security and ensure the safety of the movement of ships in international waterways, in a manner that protects economic and commercial interests and enhances the stability of the region.

The four countries affirmed that the Israeli occupation represents a fundamental source of instability in the region, calling for urgent action toward implementing the two-state solution, in accordance with United Nations resolutions, in a manner that ensures a settlement of the Palestinian issue and the establishment of a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace based on the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

In a related context, the statement pointed to the urgent need to address the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, and to work to contain the escalating tensions, preventing the expansion of the conflict and the worsening of its repercussions on the security and stability of the region, and preventing it from sliding further into crises that threaten its peoples and resources.

The four countries stressed the paramount importance of ensuring freedom of maritime navigation and the safety of ships, expressing their rejection of any measures or restrictions that could disrupt the movement of navigation or obstruct passage through international maritime waterways, given the direct repercussions this would have on global trade, the security of supplies and supply chains.
