Warning of a Threat to Hospitals in the Gaza Strip

The Palestinian Ministry of Health warned on Thursday of a forced and sudden shutdown of electrical generators due to the complete depletion of operating lubricating oil, leaving the engines vulnerable to immediate damage and total burnout at any moment.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health in Gaza said that engineering teams are working under complex technical conditions, monitoring the operation of the electrical generators and attempting to keep them running to supply electricity to critical hospital departments.

It added that the continuous strain on the generators, which have been operating for thousands of consecutive hours without oil or maintenance, has pushed them to the final stage of mechanical risk.

The ministry stressed that losing the generators because their engines burn out due to the lack of oil would result in a permanent loss of their operating capacity, even if oil becomes available later.

The Ministry of Health renewed its urgent appeal to all concerned parties to intervene immediately, emphasizing that the issue is no longer limited to supplying oil, but also involves protecting the remaining generators from complete breakdown.
