The Arab cultural scene welcomes the publication of “The Veins of Time – عروق الزمن” by Tunisian-Belgian visual artist and writer Sana Hichri, published by Nirvana Éditions, in an artistic and cultural work where visual creation meets human reflection, and where painting becomes a language capable of carrying the traces of time and preserving its details.

This bilingual publication, in Arabic and French, is the result of an artistic journey shaped by years of research, reflection, and creation between Tunisia, Europe, and the Arab world. Through it, Sana Hichri develops a unique vision that makes art a space for interpreting the human being through the stages and transformations of life, while giving color a role that goes beyond aesthetic expression to become the guardian of memory and the creator of meaning.

In “The Veins of Time,” woman appears as the living vessel of the human experience and unfolds through three successive generations: a child carrying the wonder of beginnings, a woman shaping the features of giving and fulfillment, and a wise elder who bears within her the heritage of time and the experience of years. Through this human journey, the pages resonate with an ongoing dialogue between the past and the present, while the threads of memory are woven into a visual composition where colors unite with emotions and narratives.

Sana Hichri summarizes the philosophy of this work in a sentence that serves as its key to interpretation:

“When words are no longer able to carry memory, colors take over to complete the story.”

From the very first pages, colors become a language parallel to words, carrying the imprint of time and telling the story of humanity through faces, expressions, and transformations. They guide the reader into artistic worlds rich in texture, movement, and light, where colors acquire a narrative dimension that reveals the joys, experiences, and dreams inscribed upon faces. The artworks thus become a visual archive that illuminates different stages of human life and gives them a new resonance within consciousness and sensitivity.

The works presented reflect the characteristics of an artistic experience shaped by the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels and enriched by years of exhibitions, workshops, and cultural activities between Brussels, Dubai, and Tunisia. Sana Hichri’s creations therefore bear a distinctive signature that combines depth of identity with openness to diverse human experiences.

The book also features the works of seventeen women artists, in a cultural initiative that celebrates women’s experiences in the visual arts and provides them with a space for recognition, appreciation, and transmission within a lasting publication.

It should be noted that the selection of these seventeen artists was by no means a matter of chance. It is the result of a thoughtful and demanding process initiated by Sana Hichri, then submitted for evaluation and approved by an artistic committee in Brussels. This selection is based on the quality of their artistic journeys, the uniqueness of their visual universes, and the richness of each participant’s creative approach.

Beyond the selection of the artworks themselves, Sana Hichri devoted careful and personal attention to each artist, accurately revealing the aesthetic, human, and artistic qualities that characterize her work. This approach gives the publication a genuine curatorial dimension, making “The Veins of Time” a project conceived around a coherent artistic vision, where each artist naturally finds her place within a sensitive dialogue between generations, experiences, and the different forms of visual expression.
