The headquarters of the Arab Union for Social Solidarity, operating within the framework of the Arab Economic Unity Council**, hosted the second founding meeting of the Council for Persons with Disabilities, in a strategic step reflecting the Union’s commitment to strengthening support and empowerment mechanisms for this valued segment of society across the Arab world.
The meeting was attended by a high-level delegation from the Union’s Executive Administration Support Team, including Mr. Walid Abdel Hamid Omar, General Coordinator of the Executive Administration, and Mr. Mohamed Fayez Salem, Director of the Executive Administration Media Center, in addition to members of the Board of Directors of the Arab Council for Persons with Disabilities. Their participation underscored the institution’s strong commitment to the Council’s objectives and future programs.
On behalf of Counselor Jaber Al-Anzi, President of the Union, Major General Dr. Samir Al-Masri, Executive Director of the Union, conveyed the President’s greetings and appreciation to the attendees. He reaffirmed the Union’s full and ongoing support for the Council and for specialized initiatives that serve persons with disabilities and promote their effective inclusion within Arab societies.
The meeting focused on establishing the fundamental pillars and roadmap for the Council’s work during the coming period. Participants discussed mechanisms for integration and the unification of Arab efforts to ensure the delivery of the best services and initiatives, while enhancing the developmental role of persons with disabilities as essential partners in building and advancing their communities.
This founding meeting further confirms the Union’s role as a unifying platform dedicated to advancing joint Arab social action. Best wishes are extended to the new Council for success in fulfilling its noble mission and achieving its ambitious goals.
