The Global Forum for Journalism and Media (GFJM), in cooperation with the Kuwait Journalists Syndicate, is organizing an international meeting entitled “Journalism on the Front Line: Tools and Perspectives for Detecting and Deconstructing Hate Speech” on Saturday, October 3, 2026, with the participation of a select group of journalists and media professionals from several countries.
The organization of this meeting comes at a time when the issue of hate speech has become one of the issues receiving growing attention within journalistic and media circles as a result of the expanding reach of digital content and the proliferation of platforms that enable information to be produced and circulated rapidly, which imposes increasing professional responsibilities on journalists and media professionals in dealing with this type of discourse, monitoring it, analyzing it, and presenting journalistic coverage that takes into account professional responsibility and the impact of media content on society.
Mabrouka Khdeir to Deliver the Lecture
The lecture at this meeting will be delivered by Ms. Mabrouka Khdeir, an international trainer and President and Chief Executive Officer of Cosmos Media for Environmental Media, who will focus on a range of tools and perspectives that can help journalists and media professionals address hate speech from a professional and media perspective.
The meeting will address the concept of hate speech and the mechanisms behind its emergence and spread, in addition to the importance of the journalist’s ability to identify indicators that reveal this type of discourse, analyze its content and context, and distinguish between reporting information related to it and directly or indirectly contributing to its redistribution and expanding its impact.
