Egyptian artist Hicham Abdel Hamid has put an end to the controversy that arose over his return to Egypt during the past few hours.
This came after he issued a statement revealing the details of what happened over the past few hours and the truth about his return to Egypt after a long absence.
In his statement, which he published on his account on the social media platform “Facebook,” the Egyptian artist announced that he had left Egypt with his family in 2010, heading to Canada.

He remained there until 2016, when he then traveled to Istanbul to present a cultural and artistic program that he had proposed to Egyptian official and private television channels, but no one responded to his proposal, citing the high cost of its budget.
Abdel Hamid explained that he was keen, through his program, to present quality cultural and artistic content. He spoke extensively about what he presented on the program, the cultural and artistic figures he discussed, and the attacks he faced from extremist religious movements.
In 2022, Hicham Abdel Hamid left Turkey and returned to Canada. He continued filming the episodes and sending them for broadcast before the program was eventually discontinued altogether.
Hicham Abdel Hamid stressed that some people had attributed the statements and transgressions of Hicham Abdullah to him, saying, “Any Hicham will do,” and challenged anyone to publish a statement containing any offense on his part against the Egyptian state, its president, or its regime, emphasizing that episodes of his program are available for viewing for anyone who wants to verify this.
At the end of his statement, Hicham Abdel Hamid announced his support for the Egyptian state and its president, noting that he wished to return to his country out of love and affection, not defeated, pleading, or apologetic. He explained this by saying, “Because I have not and will not apologize for a mistake I did not commit or a sin I did not commit.”
Abdel Hamid expressed his love and appreciation for everyone who wrote a word of truth about him and supported his return to Egypt, and said he would not forgive those who accused and insulted him without evidence.
