A comprehensive analytical study published by the Pharos Center for Strategic and African Studies highlighted the growing successes achieved by the Egyptian state in transforming its exceptional geographical location and modernized infrastructure into a major regional hub for energy trading and a key focal point for securing and sustaining international supply chains and trade.
The study explained that the rapid expansion of regional electricity interconnection projects with neighboring Arab, African and European countries, along with comprehensive development operations at maritime ports overlooking the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, as well as the development of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, has enabled Egypt to gain decisive economic and geopolitical leverage.
These steps have enabled Cairo to transform the challenges posed by global crises into promising investment opportunities by attracting foreign direct investment and providing alternatives and secure corridors for European and regional markets.
The strategic report noted that the Egyptian economy’s ability to deal with successive external shocks is primarily attributed to a strategy of diversifying economic components and moving toward the expansion of national industrial localization policies and increasing the share of local components.
It affirmed that this approach not only ensures sustainable economic growth rates and creates employment opportunities, but also directly contributes to strengthening economic independence and reducing the import bill.
The study added that the future outlook for the Egyptian economy depends on maximizing the benefits of strategic ports, tunnels and new logistics zones, thereby enhancing Egypt’s ability to play the role of a “logistics bridge” between the world’s three continents and making it a vital partner for major economic powers in the fields of energy security and global trade.
