320,000 Protesters and Clashes with Police in Paris

France witnessed a wave of protests on Saturday, with around 320,000 people taking part across the country. The demonstrations were marked by clashes between police and protesters in the capital Paris, amid rising tensions in other cities, including Marseille and Toulouse.

The French Interior Ministry announced that around 320,000 people had participated in marches across the country on the third day of protests organized by labor unions, students and activists from the Yellow Vests movement.

In Paris, police estimated the number of participants at around 70,000, compared with 110,000 protesters during the previous weekend, indicating a decline in participation in the capital.

Journalists from Agence France-Presse reported clashes between police forces and protesters in Paris as the march reached its final destination.

Some protesters used hammers to remove paving stones from sidewalks and throw them at police officers, while at least one incendiary device was thrown towards security forces.

Police responded by firing tear gas to disperse protesters and contain the clashes.

Tensions were not limited to the French capital, as the cities of Marseille and Toulouse also witnessed an escalation in tensions during the protest movements.

These developments come as protests continue for the third consecutive day, despite a decline in the number of participants in Paris compared with last week.
