In light of the recently observed media practices involving abuses and attempts to sow discord among brothers, the Global Forum for Journalism and Media (GFJM) expresses its deep concern and strong dismay at these behaviors, which undermine the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation among Arab countries, foremost among them the Arab Republic of Egypt and Kuwait.
The GFJM emphasizes in this statement the importance of adhering to professional standards and media responsibility, rejecting any attempts to undermine the historical and cultural ties that unite Arab and Islamic peoples, and calls upon all media institutions and professional associations to strengthen their role in safeguarding journalistic ethics and protecting the media sphere from deviations.

Official Statement

The Global Forum for Journalism and Media (GFJM) expresses its deep concern and strong dismay over the practices recently observed by some journalists and media professionals, whether at the international or Arab level, particularly in the State of Kuwait and by certain individuals on social media platforms, which clearly attempt to sow discord among brothers and deliberately insult the peoples of fraternal countries, foremost among them the Arab Republic of Egypt and Kuwait.

The GFJM affirms the depth of the fraternal and historical relations that unite the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Kuwait, and all Arab and Islamic countries, and rejects any attempts to undermine these established ties.

While strongly rejecting such unprofessional behaviors, the GFJM stresses that media messaging should be based on responsibility, adherence to standards, and respect for peoples and states, rather than being used as a tool to incite conflicts or feed divisions.

In this context, the GFJM urges all entities and institutions concerned with journalism and media, especially in the digital space and on social media platforms, to exercise the highest levels of professionalism and responsibility, and to avoid promoting or reposting such materials and content, as this contributes to expanding their spread and achieving the malicious objectives behind their dissemination.

The GFJM also emphasizes that statements made by certain individuals do not necessarily reflect official political positions or a true understanding of the nature of inter-state relations, but are often expressions of personal opinions, inaccurate views, emotional stances lacking awareness, or the result of organized campaigns seeking to destabilize and sow discord in the Arab and Islamic world.

The Global Forum for Journalism and Media (GFJM) extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the Egyptian Ministry of Information, the Kuwait Journalists’ Syndicate, and the Egyptian Syndicate of Media Professions for their pivotal role in safeguarding the journalism profession and protecting the media sphere from professional deviations. The GFJM values the prominent role of professional syndicates, particularly the Kuwait Journalists’ Syndicate, as the first line of defense for journalistic ethics through professional guidance, upholding standards of responsible media, and addressing violations. It also commends the efforts of these entities in monitoring content and taking necessary measures to curb false news and rumors, thereby enhancing societal stability and reducing attempts at misinformation.

The GFJM reiterates its support for these efforts, calling for strengthened cooperation and integration among official, syndicate, and media institutions, and for promoting responsible and professional media discourse that contributes to protecting Arab unity and safeguarding its stability.

May God grant success.
