The main nerve of modern wars, as they orbit the Earth to provide ultra-precise reconnaissance, missile guidance, and secure communications. The United States, Russia, and China dominate this field, using these satellites to monitor enemy movements, detect nuclear detonations, and transmit data instantly.
Among the most prominent functions and missions of military satellites are reconnaissance and imaging (Spy Satellites), which provide high-resolution images recently reaching four-dimensional and five-dimensional levels.
Through electromagnetic waves, they can track the movement of military and commercial forces and ships.
Modern military satellites, including China’s intelligent ones, can also provide precise communications, offering encrypted and jamming-resistant links such as the PTS system and early warning systems capable of detecting ballistic missile launches using infrared sensors, disrupting navigation, and guiding missiles, as they direct smart weapons (like the GPS system, including the American satellite and the latest Chinese intelligence recently used by Iran, which has changed the nature of warfare and penetrated U.S. and Israeli electronic surveillance systems for Iranian drone and ballistic missile attacks that cross the skies and space over Tel Aviv. It should be noted that the United States owns more than 100 satellites for military purposes and leads global spending, while China has 68 military satellites, Russia has 50, and Iran possesses the Noor satellites (1, 2, 3), which are not as militarily capable as the U.S. KH-9 spy satellites).
China has succeeded more than others in developing anti-satellite weapons (ASAT) to disrupt space system trajectories. China possesses a large and advanced network of military satellites, most notably the radar reconnaissance Yaogan series and Jianbing-7 classes, which provide high-resolution imaging, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), and ocean monitoring. China uses these satellites for espionage and missile guidance and is developing space weapons to disable hostile satellites. In summary, Chinese space technology is changing the nature of warfare and disrupting Israeli defense systems, making them unable to intercept or respond to Iranian attacks by up to 80%.
It is hoped that the destructive war ends as quickly as possible because the devastation will paralyze the global economy and security.
